"Because we, the Pafhelo family, are the most powerful clan in all of Hell. And I'm travelling all over the world to make sure everyone's aware of that."
- Sorian Pafhelo

"Sorian Pafhelo" (known as "Sorian" or "Sorian the Ripper") is a competitor in the Hell Tournament with Team Pafhelo. Sorian claims to be a nomadic warrior on a quest to spread the glory of the Pafhelo name. Her participation in the Hell Tournament is ostensibly the result of a debt of gratitude she owes Atsushi Ren after the latter saved her life.

Appearance[]

Sorian's only piece of clothing is a blue battle skirt around her waist with yellow lining, held with a brown belt that is tied behind her back with a red buckle, which in the tournament is later revealed that it's charmed to summon her older sister Celas for help in case Sorian's seel levels ever get dangerously low. Other than that, most of her body is wrapped in brown bandages, including arms, legs and neck. In her body they stop above her chest, and her hands and feet are left unwrapped. She wears no shoes and travels barefoot.

Sorian has blue eyes and long blonde hair is tied up in two ponytails with blue and yellow ties vaguely resembling cat ears.

Background[]

Sorian is of the nomadic Pafhelo family. She is traveling around Lower Hell to spread the news that Pafhelians are the strongest and best in Hell.

Personality[]

Sorian is very confident in her fighting skills. When battling, she often provokes her opponents and is determined to keep fighting to win and gain glory. She is adamant that the Pafhelo family is the strongest and best in Hell.

Sorian is often brutal in her training with Ren, sending him off to fight huge and powerful monsters, or perform seemingly impossible tasks to improve his skills. However, she knows that eventually, Ren will reach his limits. It is said that she rarely compliments him, so when she does Ren is sure that she means it.

In The Boy Who Fell[]

Sorian1

Sorian first meets Atsushi Ren in the forest surrounding Hell's Administrative Bridge, where she was accidentally ensnared in a tree trap, contemplating "They weren't kidding when they said the Devil tends to overdo things". (An extra from the author showed that the reason she was in the forest was that she simply got lost—something to do with a chicken and a beast trainer.) She reluctantly accepts Ren's offer of help, knowing that she will owe him a Pafhelian debt of gratitude but lacking any other options. She instructs him to find a special mark on the tree and ruin it without making skin contact with the roots.

Ren tells her that he is a human and needs to get to the Hell Tournament (excluding the fact that he is being helped by Lord Devil; Sorian assumes that he was kidnapped. He goes along with this, although eventually he is forced to reveal the truth.) To pay off her debt, she agrees to train him for the tournament.

Eventually, they enter as a team, posing as brother and sister. Ren immediately forfeits in his first round, terrified of his opponent, a demon named Malum. Sorian observes that Ren is scared of killing aura, which demons are excellent at generating. Because of this, she tells him to forfeit all his matches, letting her do all the winning. She completely destroys all of her competition, earning her the title of Sorian the Ripper.

Trivia[]

  • On multiple occasions, Sorian has displayed a distaste, even hatred, for demons.
    • In her first round match against Homas of Team Senn, she calls him "demon trash"[3]
    • When Sorian, Quartz, and Saffron were discussing Firenze, she said that she didn't trust him just because he was a demon. Quartz called her a racist because of this. Later, in her sparring match with Ren/Nero, Quartz, and Saffron, she singles out Quartz and gives him a ferocious noogie, saying, "This is what you get for calling me a racist!"
  • She comes from the Pafhelo clan, which is nomadic.
  • The Pafhelians are non-demon and classified as having "appeared out of nowhere".
  • The Pafhelians have mastered using their seel to power their attacks.
